The Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (SPYM) organized a 4-day-training program for functionaries working with people suffering from substance use disorders (SUDs). The resource persons included psychiatrists from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) who oriented the participants on the following topics: Basics of psychoactive substances, progression from use to addiction, SUDs and associated complications, management of SUDs and alcohol, tobacco and opioid dependence, drug abuse management strategies, laws and policies related to substance abuse in India, basics of counselling in SUDs and rehabilitation needs of substance users.
