ISSUP member Ahmad Shah has been selected as an Exchange Ambassador with the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan for one year.
Here is a personal message from Ahmad describing his involvement and experience in the drug demand reduction field:
Greetings from Pakistan
My journey started at the 6th Asian Youth Congress (AYC) in Bali, Indonesia in 2008. The Youth Congress was organized by Colombo Plan, supported by INL, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. This was a major breakthrough in my career from where I channelized my motivation and activities in the field of drug prevention and youth empowerment. Having the support of INL, U.S. Department of State, Aga Khan Development Network, Government of Pakistan etc I have been to different countries, and engaged in different drug prevention and youth empowerment programs mainly in: Pakistan, USA, Turkey, Indonesia, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Thailand, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.
Currently, I am serving as an Exchange Ambassador with the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan for one year. In this one year tenure I will train more than two hundred youth, students and young professionals about different exchange programs between Pakistan and USA. I will share my amazing experience with them in the United State of America. I have been selected for this program just to play an active role in the field of youth empowerment in Pakistan and throughout Asia. I assure you all that I will prove myself as the best Exchange Ambassador with the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan.
Secondly, I have also been selected for the Afghanistan - Pakistan Partnership Summit entitled: Workable Solutions for the New Era which will be held on May 4 - 8, 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey. This summit is organized by Hollings Center and supported by the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. The good thing about this conference is that we incorporated and highlighted drugs problems which is one of the major issues for both countries
