Vaping Makes Lung Bacteria more Harmful

Despite vaping becoming more common by the year, researchers are still uncovering the short and long-term consequences of using e-cigarettes.

The most recent research from the University of Belfast has concluded that bacteria commonly found in the lungs becomes more harmful and causes more inflammation when they have been exposed to e-cigarette vapour.

Lung diseases, such as COPD and asthma, are attributed to a combination of infection and inflammation. The study, that examined particular bacteria found in the lungs, found that exposure to vape chemicals increased the damage from infection. Vaping also increases the number of biofilms- bacteria that have grouped together- which are harder for the body to fight to get rid of.

The researchers urge people to use devices with caution as there is an urgent need for further research into the consequences of vaping.
