Summary

Substance use disorder (SUD) affects the relationship and care of children, leading to abusive behaviors. The parent-child relationship may improve with the development of parental skills (PC) in users of TUS treatment programs. However, few programs prioritize intervention over these competencies. This study aims to verify the influence of TUS on the development of negligent parental behaviors and analyze the influence of treatment for TUS on PC, considering the previous trajectory of consumption and treatment (TCT), the judicial situation (SJ) and socio-family history (ASF). The sample consists of 67 users of the TUS program in Chile, with at least one child under 12 years of age. 100% of users engage in negligent behavior. After nine months of treatment, PC improves significantly. TCT and ASF influence the development and improvement of PC.
