Bi-Monthly Webinar: ISSUP Nigeria Knowledge Update Series (Fourth Session)
On January 28th, ISSUP Nigeria held the Fourth Webinar in their Knowledge Update Series. This Webinar focused on the topic of Substance Abuse among Adolescents: The Influence of Sexual Behaviour.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify reasons for early exposure and risky sexual behaviours in adolescents
- Establish the nexus between adolescents, drugs and influence of sexual behaviours
- Identify consequences of substance abuse and risky sexual behaviours
- Highlight the consequences of teenage abortion
- Recommendations for prevention
Presenter: Ikenna Daniel Molobe
Ikenna Daniel Molobe is a social development consultant with functional expertise that spanned over a decade in programs and research; He has spent major part of his career in social interventions and public health activities having worked with both local and international organizations. He holds M.Sc in Public Health from University of Lagos; B.Sc in Applied Microbiology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka; and National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology from Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu. He received advanced training course in Addiction Research & Pregnancy at Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta Georgia, USA; and Executive Course in Human Rights and Drug Policy at University of Ghana School of Law. He has also received the UNODC DPTC training and UNODC Policy Maker training on The Nature, Prevention, and Treatment of Drug use Disorder.
Ikenna has presented papers at international conferences, and has published in peer reviewed journals and other appropriate arenas. Among the conferences where he has presented a paper were: NIDA International Forum, California; Tackling Doping in Sports Conference, London; International Conference on Child Marriage, Melaka; and International Conference on Drugs and Young People, Melaka. He was also a scholarship recipient as international delegate at the Harm Reduction Conference in Porto; Drug Policy Reform Conference in Missouri, and Global Conference on Drug Demand Reduction in Nairobi. He was a Lead Guest Editor of Special Issue on Addiction and Substance Abuse of Science Journal of Public Health (SJPH) USA, and also a recipient of the 2018 UNODC Academic Research Grant. He co-founded the Unified Initiative for a Drug Free Nigeria where he currently serves as Director. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of ISSUP Nigeria Chapter and serves on the Executive Council as treasurer. He is the key contact person for Africa under the International Substance Abuse and addiction Coalition (ISAAC).
