This 4- days course provides information about trauma, its prevalence among people with substance use disorders, and impact on treatment and recovery as many researches found that trauma is associated with higher risk of later substance use and also substance use itself in turn can predispose people to higher rates of trauma.
Understanding about these issues permits treatment and recovery support service providers to identify how trauma affects the community, the elements of trauma-informed care and ways to address its effect on service providers. It also helps to develop and integrate trauma-informed care into existing treatment system and make it available to all clients with SUD.
