Background

Healthcare workers across the world have risen to the demands of treating COVID-19 patients, potentially at significant cost to their own health and wellbeing. There has been increasing recognition of the potential mental health impact of COVID-19 on frontline workers and calls to provide psychosocial support for them. However, little attention has so far been paid to understanding the impact of working on a pandemic from healthcare workers’ own perspectives or what their views are about support.

The Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), jointly with the Mental Health Commission of Canada, will hold a new online self-learning and tutor-guided course "Understanding Stigma and Cognitive Behavioral Interpersonal Skills" from August 15 to November 30, 2022. 

The purpose of this course is to reduce mental health-related stigma and improve clinical and practice management skills among primary care providers when working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Este tema me parece muy importante, ya que si bien existen diversos instrumentos de medición sobre distintos temas relacionados con enfermedad mental, muchos son elaborados en otros países con contextos diferentes al de Ciudad de México. Por ello, es vital la adaptación de dichos instrumentos a las características culturales del lugar donde se utilizarán, para obtener resultados más confiables y válidos de acuerdo con las características de nuestra población de estudio.

Tina and Dave have been supporting our son with co-occurring disorders since 2008. We joined Al-anon in 2012, and volunteered on the UK National Helpline. We have attended SMART Recovery since 2015 and we are both UK/USA SMART CRAFT trained volunteers. Dave has co-facilitated the UK on-line weekly meeting. Since 2016, we have been running two face-to-face groups, one for the Birmingham City Hospital Alcohol Team and the other for our local CGL Drug and Alcohol Recovery Centre. Lo stigma tra gli operatori sanitari è un ostacolo all'efficace fornitura di servizi di salute mentale nelle cure primarie.
