International Consortium on Quality in Substance Use Disorders Treatment(ICQ)

ICQ is an initiative of The Colombo Plan. Its mission is to provide global leadership and a hub for organizations interested in promoting and improving the quality of substance use disorders (SUD) treatment system and services to ensure the best positive outcomes for people who use alcohol and other drugs.

ICQ was created to work with three stakeholder groups (QA agencies, Treatment providers and patients, family and caregivers) to ensure that SUD services are in line with international standards for the treatment of substance use disorders through:

  • Peer-led mechanisms to support quality and quality improvement efforts at the SUD system and service levels,
  • Training on quality and quality assurance mechanisms to support quality in treatment, and
  • Technical support to assist countries Quality Assurance agencies (includes accreditation bodies, inspectors, regulators) to obtain the international Quality Seal award for their QA evaluation efforts.
