International Consortium on Quality in Substance Use Disorders Treatment (ICQ)

ICQ provides global leadership and a hub for organizations interested in promoting and improving the quality of substance use disorders (SUDs) treatment services and systems to ensure the best positive outcomes for people who use alcohol and other drugs.

ICQ was created to work with international partners and form three stakeholder groups (QA agencies, Treatment providers and patients, family and caregivers) to ensure that SUDs services are in line with international standards for the treatment of substance use disorders.

Joining the ICQ will allow you to be part of a network whose central focus is on quality and quality improvement in the treatment of people with substance use disorders.

ICQ was created to ensure that SUDs services and systems are in line with international standards for the treatment of SUDs through peer-led and co-designed resources and through the provision of technical support to interested countries from two initiatives:

  • International Consortium on Quality in Substance Use Disorders Treatment (ICQ)
  • Program for International Quality Assurance in Treatment (PIQAT)

Through the various supports provided, quality and quality assurance in a country's system of care and services will be embedded and sustained through continuous quality improvement processes as reflected in International Standards and Key Quality Standards for appraisal; and international recognition through the achievement of the Quality Seal Award is made possible.

With greater sharing, collaboration and support, we can all do more to promote quality in SUDs services and systems and improve health outcomes for people who use alcohol and other drugs.
