The purpose of this conference is to disseminate the fundamentals of Implementation Research among national and international health care services managers and researchers, and especially among the RICAPPS and Osakidetza partners, to foster implementation research and to generate new implementation research projects to be developed. 

The Covid pandemic, the war in Ukraine and other ongoing conflicts in the world, have globally disrupted health services and affected treatment and psychosocial care of people living with HIV.

HIV prevention including HIV testing has also been negatively affected.
In order to ensure that HIV continues to feature on the worldwide agenda, focus and determination will be required.

The theme of the AIDSImpact 2023 is therefore.
Power for Action Now! 

In this presentation, Dr Carla Danielson will:

1) Provide a brief overview of the overlap between trauma (particularly child maltreatment) and substance use, theoretical models linking these, and the critical importance of integrated approaches to treatment for these problems;

2) Note the challenges that have impeded progress in integrated approaches;

3) Review the state of the science in integrated approaches to treatment;

4) Describe future directions in this area of clinical research and practice.

Conflict Resolution for Recovery (CRR) is a two-day therapeutic training that is skill-based and focused on the brain, including how the brain works in conflict and strategies to affect the quality of recovery in relationships.  

Upon completing the 12-hour training, participants will earn a Certificate of Completion for 12 CEs.  In addition, participants may apply for the CRR Facilitator's Certificate.

This two week in-person Summer School (26th of June to 7th of July 2023) prepares professionals and students to meet the complex policy challenges that face Europe and the World in the field of drugs. Teaching staff include scientific experts from the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), researchers, practitioners and policymakers.

Description

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is widely accepted as the most effective form of treatment for individuals with opioid use disorder. MAT options have offered a pathway to recovery for many individuals who have found sustained, long-term recovery with the support of these medications and services. Despite this, MAT is often categorized as a form of harm reduction. In fact, MAT is known to provide many life-saving harm reduction benefits to individuals who use substances. So, which is it? A pathway to recovery or a form of harm reduction?

The International Research Conference Aims and Objectives

The International Research Conference is a federated organization dedicated to bringing together a significant number of diverse scholarly events for presentation within the conference program. Events will run over a span of time during the conference depending on the number and length of the presentations. With its high quality, it provides an exceptional value for students, academics and industry researchers.

This year NIHR ARC South London will be co-hosting the annual implementation science research conference as a hybrid event with the University of Limerick. Participants will be able to join the conference either online or in person at the University of Limerick in Ireland.

The conference programme 

The hybrid interdisciplinary conference will feature plenary lectures from leading international researchers. It will also include oral and poster presentations organised under specialist themes, roundtable discussions, question and answer sessions, and online networking.

What do individuals need to recover from addiction? In this training, we will first describe recovery capital as a predictor of long-term addiction recovery. Second, we will discuss how we characterize substance use disorder (SUD) as a chronic condition and lean into the complexity of the heterogeneity of SUD and recovery as a process of change. Finally, in part three of the training, we will focus on harm reduction as a pathway of recovery.
