INTRODUCTION: Parental technoference (PTF) refers to the behaviour of a parent who looks at the screen of their smartphone (or other electronic device) instead of their child’s face during parent-child interaction. The parent’s inattention to the child disrupts adult–child reciprocal trust and warmth, negatively affecting the parent-child relationship. The parent may also unconsciously convey to the child that they are of low importance. Learning from Africa: Workforce Development, Enhancement, and Support Session at Lisbon Addictions.

From October 23rd to 25th, 2024, Lisbon hosted the Lisbon Addictions 2024 Conference, bringing together 2,231 participants from around the world. The event provided a dynamic platform for sharing the latest research in addiction science and exploring future directions in addiction policy and practice. The Conference theme, "Empowering the Workforce of the Future," focused on strengthening the workforce in addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery, underscoring the critical need for well-trained professionals to meet the evolving demands of the field.

Η Παγκόσμια Διοργάνωση του 2024 θα πραγματοποιηθεί στη Θεσσαλονίκη μεταξύ 24 και 28 Ιουνίου 2024. Η εκδήλωση διοργανώνεται από το ISSUP και το ISSUP Greece, το INL, τα Κέντρα Πρόληψης Εξαρτήσεων, Προαγωγής Ψυχοκοινωνικής Υγείας ΣΕΙΡΙΟΣ και ICUDDR.  Η εκδήλωση θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο ιστορικό κέντρο της Θεσσαλονίκης, στους χώρους του «Διεθνούς Εκθεσιακού & Συνεδριακού Κέντρου της ΔΕΘ-HELEXPO» και στον περιβάλλοντα συνεδριακό χώρο μουσείων και κοινωνικών φορέων.

Background

This study explores substance use (SU) and substance use disorders (SUDs) among Arabic-speaking refugees in Germany. The research investigates the challenges and experiences related to SU treatment from the perspectives of both refugees and professionals.

Methods

Qualitative interviews were conducted with 26 participants, including 13 refugees and 13 professionals, between 2020 and 2021 in Berlin. Refugees, aged 21 to 52, were individually interviewed in rehabilitation centers, with an average of 6.3 years in Germany. Professionals, aged 22 to 66 with 5 to 9 years of experience...
