In mental health care, incorporating into daily practice the vision of inclusion, empowerment and non-stigmatization towards people who are treated due to their mental health conditions enhances their recovery and development as citizens in their lives. In mental health services, human rights are present at every step of the process; empathy, good communication, accurate information, and respect for the dignity of those who need help, is implicit in good mental health care. But Human Rights still are violated and must be intensified, promoted and guaranteed.
This session will focus on substance use and pain with an occupational health lens, addressing worker wellness, the return-to-work process, and the role of the clinician, as well as employer engagement in promoting employee wellbeing.
The previous sessions focused on substance use and addiction in adolescents, young adults, older adults, as well as the intersection of substance use and pain with particular focus on palliative care and the examples of Sickle Cell Disease and cancer survivorship.
