ISSUP Tanzania is proud to be an official partner of the East Africa Youth Forum on Drugs (EAYFD) 2026, a regional platform bringing together youth leaders, policymakers, practitioners, and development partners to strengthen collaboration on substance use prevention, treatment, recovery, mental health, and policy engagement across East Africa.

Tanzania Held The First Universal Recovery Curriculum Training in Tanzania
The first-ever Universal Recovery Curriculum (URC) training for Peer Recovery Support Professionals was held in Tanga City from 11–16 December 2025, marking a major milestone in advancing recovery-oriented care in Tanzania. The event was opened by Dr. Peter Mfisi from the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) and closed by Tanga’s Deputy Mayor, Mr. Khalidi Rashid, highlighting strong national and local government backing.

The UPC CORE Training of Trainers held from 3–8 December 2025 in Tanga City brought together practitioners for an intensive capacity-building program facilitated by trainers from DCEA and ISSUP Tanzania.

The UPC CORE ToT held from 3–8 December 2025 in Tanga City was officially opened by the District Commissioner of Tanga City and later closed by the Tanga City Mayor, highlighting the strong government commitment to strengthening substance use prevention efforts.
STRENGTHENING YOUTH ENGAGEMENT IN DRUG PREVENTION
As part of the ongoing ISSUP Tanzania movement to promote evidence-based prevention and build national capacity, the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority conducted a specialized training on the Universal Prevention Curriculum (UPC): Youth Engagement in Drug Prevention from 20th to 24th October 2025 at the Amani Center, Kaloleni – Arusha.
