The Annual Meeting will be held on March 2-5 2022, and is currently scheduled to take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Center in Edinburgh, Scotland.  

The SRNT 2022 Annual Meeting may be a hybrid (part in person, part virtual) or entirely virtual, depending on how things play out in the coming months. A final decision about the meeting format (face-to-face hybrid virtual component vs. entirely virtual) will not be made for some time. Over the past era, there has been a call for legalizing marijuana cultivation and trading for commercial purposes in South Africa. Advocates of the call argue that the criminalization of commercial marijuana cultivation and trading has failed to stop illicit marijuana cultivation and trading. ISSUP Kenya PCEA UTC Graduation

ISSUP Kenya in partnership with the PCEA graduated the first cohort of trainees on basic UTC course: a total of 30 participants. The ceremony at the Kikuyu mission hospital was graced by the Governor of Kiambu County, His Excellency James Nyoro, In coming SG of the PCEA, Rev. Dr. Waihenya,The CEO Kikuyu hospital Dr. P.Kimpiatu. Other officials present included Rev. Dr. W. Kogo, ISSUP Kenya Executive Dr. Richard Gakunju & Vice president ISSUP Kenya Ms. Susan Gitau. Researchers predict that harm from substance use and rates of substance use disorders in sub-Saharan Africa will increase significantly in the next 30 years.

In order to have a well-functioning health system that works in harmony, the World Health Organization (WHO)describes the need for the following features:

  • trained and motivated health workers,
  • a well-maintained infrastructure
  • a reliable supply of medicines and technologies,
  • the backing of adequate funding with strong health plans and evidence-based policies.
