Community Reinforcement Approach

The Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA) is a psychosocial and cognitive-behavioural intervention designed to help individuals with alcohol and other substance use disorders by promoting healthy lifestyle changes that make sobriety more rewarding than substance use.

CRA has been adapted for different groups, including adolescents through the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) and family members through Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), which teaches families strategies to support loved ones who are hesitant to seek treatment.
