ISSUP Indonesia participated in a coordination meeting organized by the Directorate of Post-Rehabilitation, Deputy for Rehabilitation of the National Narcotics Board of Indonesia (BNN RI), on 12 May 2026 in Jakarta. The meeting focused on strengthening the capacity of rehabilitation professionals in supporting sustainable and recovery-oriented rehabilitation services in Indonesia.
The discussion highlighted the importance of integrating post-rehabilitation services from the beginning of the treatment process, including integrated assessment, recovery planning, monitoring, and post-termination evaluation. Participants emphasized the need for a paradigm shift among rehabilitation workers — from focusing primarily on problems and deficits toward recognizing and strengthening recovery capital and individual strengths.
Several priority themes for future workforce capacity-building initiatives were identified, including:
- Recovery Capital-Based Recovery Management
- Case Management (Assessment, Planning, Linkage, Advocacy, and Monitoring)
- Group Facilitation Skills
ISSUP Indonesia welcomed the opportunity to contribute to these discussions alongside representatives from BNN RI, Colombo Plan, YLIP, and professional rehabilitation organizations. The meeting also agreed to continue technical discussions in a follow-up session scheduled for 18 May 2026, with ISSUP Indonesia invited to participate further in the development process.
This collaboration reflects the growing commitment among stakeholders in Indonesia to strengthen evidence-based, recovery-oriented rehabilitation systems and improve long-term recovery outcomes for people affected by substance use disorders.
