The International Research Conference Aims and Objectives

The International Research Conference is a federated organization dedicated to bringing together a significant number of diverse scholarly events for presentation within the conference program. Events will run over a span of time during the conference depending on the number and length of the presentations. With its high quality, it provides an exceptional value for students, academics and industry researchers.

In 2001, Portugal implemented a groundbreaking policy that decriminalized personal possession of drugs, while maintaining criminal penalties for drug trafficking.

This year NIHR ARC South London will be co-hosting the annual implementation science research conference as a hybrid event with the University of Limerick. Participants will be able to join the conference either online or in person at the University of Limerick in Ireland.

The conference programme 

The hybrid interdisciplinary conference will feature plenary lectures from leading international researchers. It will also include oral and poster presentations organised under specialist themes, roundtable discussions, question and answer sessions, and online networking.

The DDN National Conference brings together people who use treatment and support services with the providers, commissioners and policymakers.

The event is jointly organized by the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) Civil Society Unit and the Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs (VNGOC).
Ms Chloe Carpientier (Chief, UNODC Drugs Research Section) will present the main findings of the World Drug Report 2023, followed by inputs from civil society experts and an interactive questions and answer session.

The event will be moderated by Mr Matej Košir, Chair of the VNGOC, and Ms Mirella Dummar Frahi, Chief of the UNODC Civil Society Unit will give opening remarks.
