Mental disorders have become a global public health issue exacerbated by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In Senegal, the treatment and care of people suffering from mental health disorders, including substance use disorders, faces multiple obstacles and challenges which have a profound effect on families and communities.

New Training of Staff in Medication Assisted Treatment

Uganda Has now officially started training in harm reduction and has created Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) Clinics in one of its National referral Mental Hospital Alcohol and Drug Unit.

The training is ongoing for new and existing staff to run this new facility and MAT clients will be enrolled this coming month. 

A special thanks to all the efforts of Dr David Basangwa whose dream this is has now Patients at the Medically Assisted Treatment Clinicbecome a reality.

امسال، روز جهانی بهداشت روانی در سراسر جهان در 10 اکتبر 2020 جشن گرفته شد. این در حالی است که میلیاردها نفر در سراسر جهان توسط بیماری همه گیر COVID 19 که اثرات منفی غیر قابل اندازه گیری بر سلامت روان داشته است تحت تاثیر قرار گرفته اند. به همین دلیل است که سازمان بهداشت جهانی همراه با سازمان های همکار خود خواستار افزایش عمده سرمایه گذاری در جهت سلامت روان از طریق مبارزات انتخاباتی خود شده است: "حرکت برای سلامت روان: بیایید سرمایه گذاری کنیم".

ISSUP Kenya PCEA UTC Graduation

ISSUP Kenya in partnership with the PCEA graduated the first cohort of trainees on basic UTC course: a total of 30 participants. The ceremony at the Kikuyu mission hospital was graced by the Governor of Kiambu County, His Excellency James Nyoro, In coming SG of the PCEA, Rev. Dr. Waihenya,The CEO Kikuyu hospital Dr. P.Kimpiatu. Other officials present included Rev. Dr. W. Kogo, ISSUP Kenya Executive Dr. Richard Gakunju & Vice president ISSUP Kenya Ms. Susan Gitau.
