We know that relationships impacted by addiction have divorce rates four times higher than average. Even after beginning recovery, relationships are still at risk. Trauma history is likely to play a key reason. Partners impacted by addiction often have a long history of trauma that may precede their relationship. Added to previous trauma, there is the trauma of addiction and the trauma of recovery, an often overlooked dynamic.
