Welcome to the ISSUP Australia National Chapter.

The ISSUP Australia Chapter is hosted by the National Drug Research Institute (NDRI). Established in 1986 and located at Curtin University in Perth Western Australia, NDRI is a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for the Prevention of Substance Use and Substance Use Disorders and part of the national network of collaborative network of alcohol and other drug research centres in Australia.

NDRI’s purpose is to conduct and disseminate research that supports evidence-informed policy and practice to prevent and minimise alcohol and other drug-related health, social, cultural and economic harms.

NDRI’s objectives is hosting the ISSUP Australia Chapter include:

  • Build on our portfolio of work to support evidence-based drug policy and practice
  • Provide training and development to increase the capacity of services and the wider sector to implement high quality responses to drug-related problems
  • Collaborate with ISSUP to make the Society and Institute’s work as impactful, accessible and effective as possible
  • Develop and strengthen mutually beneficial collaborations across Australia and with other ISSUP chapters in the Asia-Pacific region to understand and effectively respond to the global nature of drug issues.
