Singapore expands smoking ban

Singapore’s Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), Sentosa Development Corp. (SDC) and several statutory boards have announced that the country’s smoking ban is to be extended.

Under the new legislation, smoking will be prohibited in public parks and gardens and on recreational beaches.

The ban will come into effect on 1 July 2022.

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is the U.S. government’s signature initiative to engage emerging leaders in Southeast Asia. Data global menunjukkan bahwa usia mulai penggunaan tembakau menurun dengan cepat. Ini tidak hanya telah menyebabkan banyak konsekuensi kesehatan yang serius tetapi juga meningkatkan banyak masalah sosial. Di sisi lain, penggunaan dini menunjukkan risiko tinggi mengarah pada penggunaan zat lain seperti heroin di masa dewasa. Oleh karena itu, pencegahan dan intervensi dini pada populasi ini sangat krusial. Untuk berkontribusi dalam mempromosikan program pencegahan penggunaan tembakau kaum muda dalam waktu dekat di Vietnam, VHATTC menyelenggarakan sesi online tentang "Mencegah Penggunaan Tembakau di Kalangan Pemuda: Intervensi Berbasis Bukti".

The VNGOC together with the UNODC Civil Society Unit will be holding two webinars to present and discuss the World Drug Report 2021, which will be launched on 25th June.
 
VNGOC are looking for civil society speakers wishing to present at these webinars, on how they use the data compiled in the World Drug Report each year and how these data impact their work. 

  • The first webinar will be held on 13th July 2021 and will focus on Asia, Oceania and Europe.
  • The second webinar will be held on 15th July 2021 and will focus on Africa and the Americas.
