Background

Four Central Asia countries piloted the UNODC Quality Assurance (QA) mechanisms in 2019 with training and technical assistance provided by UNODC in 2018-2019. The countries involved were Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Background

In 2019, four Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan –  piloted the implementation of UNODC's quality assurance mechanisms/tools for the treatment of drug use disorders.

On 29 July 2020, UNODC Civil Society Team and the Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs (VNGOC), in collaboration with UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia (UNODC ROCA), jointly organized a web seminar on the World Drug Report 2020 for Central Asia. UNODC Mentor in collaboration with colleagues from Coordination and Analysis Unit of the UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia conducted a rapid assessment in four countries of Central Asia. 24.–29. února 2020 – Tým národních školitelů ze Střední Asie se zúčastnil Všeobecného léčebného kurikula (UTC) Regionálního školení školitelů, které se konalo v Taškentu v Uzbekistánu.

My name is Brian, I work with USAID in the Kyrgyz Republic. We are seeing younger people contracting HIV and but seem to have the PWIDs (typically male, 40-50) population saturated in HIV treatment and prevention. We have heard from partners that there is a growing use of synthetics and amphetamines among the younger population, but would love to speak to a researcher or organization that may better have their finger on the pulse of young users.
