The APSAD Conference provides an opportunity for networking and idea sharing in a friendly and informal atmosphere with a cross-section of AOD workers; practitioners, researchers, peer workers, consumers, and policymakers.

The conference also contributes to building capacity and capability in AOD by providing opportunities for engagement and learnings from early to mid-career, and more experienced researchers and clinicians.

This event aims at discussing the validity and reliability of alcohol per capita consumption, its sensitivity to describe changes in alcohol control policies and reflect on the implication of the COVID-19 pandemic in alcohol consumption projected trends by 2030. 

The target audience includes policymakers, government officials and civil servants, civil society groups, media and researchers with an interest on this topic. 

There are growing health concerns regarding the use of image and performance enhancing drugs (IPEDs), in particular, anabolic androgenic steroids. In response, the National Institute for Health Research awarded a development grant to assess the available intelligence and research gaps to inform intervention evaluation. With support of an active steering group, members of Anabolic Steroid UK Network and special thanks to a dedicated public expert advisory board, this work is now complete. The key finding will be presented and discussed in this seminar covering:

During this event, the UNODC Synthetic Drug Strategy 2021-2025 will be launched. 

There has been a lot of discussion in recent years over the role of residential rehabilitation and care services for people with a substance use problem.  With the recent investment provided by Scottish Government, this webinar will explore the nature of the need for residential rehabilitation and care and how services may meet these needs.   

Daan van der Gouwe will describe the range of current provision in the Netherlands.  Other presenters will describe the provision they currently offer, what it achieves and proposals for the future development of services in Scotland.

Of the approximately 107 million people globally who have an alcohol use disorder (AUD), fewer than 10% receive appropriate care due to numerous barriers, including fear of treatment, privacy concerns, stigma, time conflicts, and limited availability of treatment.
