ISSUP South Africa has been established to promote the mission and vision of ISSUP within South Africa and internationally in collaboration with Global ISSUP and other National Chapter partners. Its focus is to promote evidence-based, high quality and ethical policy and practice in the field of drug demand reduction and so promote the professionalisation of the workforce.
Governance of the ISSUP National Chapter in South Africa will be under the supervision of SANCA. Mr Roger Weimann and Ms Adrie Vermeulen (SANCA National Office Representatives) will be working with Mrs Louina LeRoux (Elim Clinic) to develop the Chapter at the outset until such time as the Chapter has been set up and Elections for the Management Committee have taken place. All Governance will be conducted under the supervision of the ISSUP International Organisation in order to align the South African Chapter with the ideals as set out by the International Society.
