ISSUP Bosnia & Herzegovina is a professional platform connecting people and organisations working in substance use prevention, treatment and recovery. As part of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP), the National Chapter aims to support professional development, knowledge exchange and collaboration in Bosnia & Herzegovina and the wider Western Balkans.
The National Chapter is hosted by Association Celebrate Recovery (Proslavi Oporavak), a Bosnian civil society organization established in 2008 by people with lived experience of recovery. The organisation has extensive experience in supporting people affected by substance use, promoting recovery and social inclusion, and bringing together professional and lived-experience perspectives.
ISSUP Bosnia & Herzegovina aims to build an open and inclusive professional community that connects professionals, institutions, academia, civil society organisations and people with lived experience.
We aim to:
- promote evidence-based approaches to substance use prevention, treatment and recovery;
- facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience and good practice;
- create opportunities for professional learning through webinars, training and other activities;
- strengthen connections and collaboration among professionals and organizations in Bosnia & Herzegovina and Western Balkan countries;
- develop regional cooperation and knowledge exchange across the Western Balkans;
- encourage meaningful involvement of people with lived experience; and
- support young professionals and future leaders in the field.
We believe that stronger responses to substance use are built through collaboration, shared knowledge and the contribution of different perspectives.
