UPC-10: Core Course

Introduction to the Universal Prevention Curriculum Series for Practitioners

The Drug Advisory Programme (DAP), with funding support from The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), US Department of State, has developed the online instructor-led Core Course of the Universal Prevention Curriculum for Substance Use – Practitioners (UPC-P).Like the in-person Core Course, this online version of the curriculum series consists of ten modules that represent different aspects of prevention science and its application to practice. It is designed to give learners a grounding in the knowledge and skills needed to undertake evidence-based prevention programming at the community level.

Participants in the Practitioners series are required to take this course first, so they are ready to focus on the subsequent specialty tracks that address the primary settings where prevention practice takes place in communities. These include the family, school, workplace, and community-wide efforts involving environment-based policy, media, community systems, and monitoring and evaluation. These specialty tracks can be selected after taking the Core Course.
