The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) is shaping global responses to drug-related crime through stronger international cooperation and more integrated justice systems. There is increasing emphasis on multi-sector approaches that link justice, prevention, treatment, and recovery. In this context, ISSUP has expanded its engagement with law enforcement, courts, and policymakers as key partners. At the 2026 CCPCJ, ISSUP will contribute through a side event focused on strengthening justice systems and workforce capacity. This highlights ISSUP’s role in advancing coordinated, workforce-driven responses to drug-related crime.

From April 28 to 30, 2026, Almaty hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Modern Pathways for the Development of Mental Health Services in the Republic of Kazakhstan,” dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Mental Health and the 90th anniversary of the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology named after Professor G.I. Salzman at Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University.

On April 21 and 22, the Alberto Masferrer University of El Salvador (USAM) — host of the ISSUP El Salvador National Chapter - hosted a meeting with various churches and faith-based organizations (FBOs). The main objective was to provide specialized training in prevention, treatment, and recovery for people in vulnerable situations and with problematic substance use.

On April 16–17, the 11th Annual Conference of the Association of Psychiatrists of Ukraine, titled “Mental Health in Ukraine: Governance in Times of War, Planning for Peace,” took place in Kyiv. This year, the Association, founded by Semen Gluzman, celebrates its 35th anniversary - an important milestone for the development of Ukraine’s mental health system.

The international gathering of Therapeutic Communities will be taking place between 18-20 May 2026 in Genoa, Italy.  The Symposium's mission is to "innovate treatment pathways and social reintegration" for the next decade, drafting of the Genoa Charter 2026-2036. Dr Adele Emanuela Cutaia, Coordinator of Prevention and Treatment Services, will be there to represent Casa Rosetta (host organisation for ISSUP Italy) at the event.
