Relapse

This refers to the recurrence of substance use or related behaviours after a period of abstinence or remission. Relapse can be a part of the recovery process and may result from stress, triggers, or environmental cues. It reflects the chronic, relapsing nature of substance use disorders and is addressed through relapse-prevention strategies, continued support, and treatment adjustments.
