The first-ever Universal Recovery Curriculum (URC) training for Peer Recovery Support Professionals was held in Tanga City from 11–16 December 2025, marking a major milestone in advancing recovery-oriented care in Tanzania. The event was opened by Dr. Peter Mfisi from the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) and closed by Tanga’s Deputy Mayor, Mr. Khalidi Rashid, highlighting strong national and local government backing.

On 10 December 2025, Zambia marked a significant milestone in its response to substance use with the official launch of the ISSUP Zambia National Chapter at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.
