At the beginning of March the ISSUP team came together in England for a three day staff meeting. The aim of the meeting was to push forward with the fantastic new developments which are on the way for the organisation and the website. It was also the perfect chance to welcome the latest addition to the ISSUP staff team - Diana Crossan. Diana is based in the US and brings a wealth of experience in organising events and working internationally.

Last week ISSUP staff attended the Global Drug Demand Reduction Partners on Workforce Development meeting organised by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) to share their experience and practices in reducing substance use disorders and plan for future collaborations. The week-long meeting was hosted by the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD) in Washington, D.C.

In addition to ISSUP's digital presence and annual event, ISSUP is now focused on building its third major strand. The third dimension is the establishment of ISSUP National Chapters. This will allow ISSUP’s activities and contributions to be available to meet the national needs and promote national and international sharing and support.

On Monday, December 4th ISSUP kicked off its third annual workshop in Cancun, Mexico. More than 300 people from 71 countries attended the opening ceremony. ISSUP's Acting Executive Director, Joanna Travis-Roberts, welcomed everyone and thanked them for being part of this exciting week-long training and networking opportunity.

The new financial year at ISSUP has brought a significant change in the leadership roles in the organisation. As of November 1st, 2017 Joanna Travis-Roberts is the new Acting Executive Director. Former Executive Director, Jeff Lee, will continue to support the work and development of ISSUP in a Senior Consultant role.

The ISSUP team held a three-day staff meeting in Windsor, UK from 7 – 9 February 2017. The meeting offered a chance to reflect on the organisation’s achievements so far, as well as to consider and evaluate its future objectives which will look to further ISSUP’s contribution to the professionalisation of the substance use prevention and treatment workforce.

The ISSUP staff held a two day meeting in Loughborough, UK over the weekend of 3-4 September to review the work plan for the year ahead. Much attention was given to the development of the Knowledge Share section of the ISSUP website in the presence of ISSUP’s two most recent staff appointments Livia Edegger and Ally Lee. Both will be working part-time on the development of the content of the website with a particular focus on the Knowledge Share section.
