ISSUP SG
Welcome to ISSUP Singapore!
Strengthening Singapore's Substance Use Workforce through Science and Compassion.
The ISSUP Singapore Chapter is where local legacy meets global standards. Hosted by the Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association (SANA)—drawing on over 50 years of frontline experience—our Chapter acts as a national bridge, connecting Singapore’s professionals to the latest international evidence-informed practices.
ISSUP SG is more than a professional body; we aim to be an inclusive community designed for collaboration across government agencies, academic institutions, and social service organisations. As a commitment to our mission, we hope to provide an accessible platform—both virtually and physically at the SANA Step-Up Centre—for the Substance Use Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Support workforce to grow, innovate, and lead together. By uniting our efforts, we ensure Singapore’s national response remains scientific, compassionate, and effective.
Our Mission
To strengthen Singapore's substance use workforce through fact-based training, professional development, and collaborative networks, while advancing the highest standards of practice in prevention, treatment, and recovery support.
Our Vision
A Singapore where every individual working in prevention, treatment and recovery support is equipped with world-class knowledge, skills, and professional support to help individuals, families, and communities achieve lasting recovery and resilience against substance abuse.
Core Values
To support this mission and vision, the Chapter adheres to five core values that define our professional identity:
-
Collaboration: Building bridges across the national and regional social service and health ecosystem.
-
Inclusivity: Ensuring a diverse network that welcomes all practitioners, special interest networks and vibrant ground up initiatives.
-
Evidence-Informed Excellence: Grounding every practice in global data and scientific rigor.
-
Innovation: Creating and adapting localized frameworks, to meet modern challenges.
-
Compassion: Keeping the dignity and well-being of individuals and families at the heart of our professional growth.
Alignment with ISSUP Global
These localized statements are designed to advance ISSUP Global’s broader mission, which is to establish substance use prevention and treatment as a unique and multidisciplinary field through the professionalisation of its network.
By acting as the national focal point for these efforts in Singapore, the Chapter ensures that global, data-supported knowledge—including the Universal Curricula (UTC/UPC)—is applied in a way that is relevant to the local environment, culture, and specific needs of our community.
