The ISSUP Ethiopia National Chapter is officially hosted and led by the Meqoamia Community Development Organization (MCDO). Established in December 2010, MCDO is an independent civil society organization with over 15 years of impactful experience in Ethiopia, specializing in substance use prevention, peer-to-peer recovery support, professional capacity building, and public health policy advocacy.

By bridging global scientific standards with frontline practice in Ethiopia, ISSUP Ethiopia advances evidence-based methodologies, specialized professional training (UTC, UPC, URC), and strategic collaboration to transform addiction science and public health nationwide.

To establish a sustainable, inclusive, and evidence-based national platform that unites, trains, and equips substance use professionals across Ethiopia through continuous capacity building, public health policy advocacy, scientific research dissemination, and multi-sectoral strategic collaboration.
