Indicated Prevention

This refers to a targeted approach aimed at individuals who already show early signs of substance use or related risk behaviours, but who do not yet meet the criteria for substance dependence. Rather than focusing solely on preventing initial use, indicated prevention seeks to reduce the frequency or severity of use, delay progression to dependence, and discourage harmful patterns such as binge or high-risk consumption.
