Kools, N., Dekker, G.G., Kaijen, B.A.P. et al. Correction: Interdisciplinary collaboration in the treatment of alcohol use disorders in a general hospital department: a mixed-method study. Subst Abuse Treat Prev Policy 17, 64 (2022). https://doi.org/10.1186/s13011-022-00492-0
Background
Interdisciplinary collaborations (i.e., where various disciplines work coordinated and interdependently toward shared goals) are stated to yield higher team effectiveness than multidisciplinary approaches (i.e., where various disciplines work in parallel within their professional boundaries) in somatic health care settings. Nevertheless, research is lacking on interdisciplinary approaches for alcohol use disorder (AUD) treatment of hospitalized patients as these types of approaches are still uncommon. This study aims to evaluate an innovative interdisciplinary AUD treatment...

Strategies to cut down drinking, alcohol consumption, and usual drinking frequency: Evidence from a British online market research survey. Social Science & Medicine, 310, p.115280. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.socscimed.2022.115280
Background
Relatively little is known about how risky drinkers attempt to moderate their drinking in the absence of specialist support. The broader literature has identified multiple potential strategies that people use to cope with temptation when trying to control health-risk behaviours. This study aims to identify types of alcohol moderation strategies used by British adults, and to explore how concurrent alcohol consumption differs across moderation strategies, focusing on the important role of usual drinking frequency.
Methods
The authors used a repeated survey and one-week drinking...

The WHO European Region has some of the highest levels of alcohol consumption and corresponding rates of alcohol-related harm in the world. Pricing policies and taxation are among the most effective measures that policy-makers can use to address these harms, but they remain underutilized across the Region.
There has been growing interest in recent years in a relatively new form of pricing policy to decrease alcohol affordability and consequently consumption – minimum pricing. This report discusses this (as yet) not widely used policy and its potential for improving public health...
