ISSUP Kenya at National Recovery Month
National Recovery Month was celebrated in Kenya on Friday 27th September with an event at the Empower Her Recovery Centre - Nueva Annex (Ngewa House) with the theme Empowering Women in Recovery. The event was graced by ISSUP Kenya members Dr Pamela Kaithuru (chapter President), Catherine Mwati, Jane Wambui (executive committee members), Fatma Musau (former executive committee member), and Kui Mucara (founder Nueva Annex) and Nkatha Mwenda. Well in ladies!
ISSUP Kenya pays Courtesy Call on Kenyan Parliamentary Representative.
ISSUP Kenya Director, Dr Pamela Kaithuru meets with Kenyan Parliamentary Representative, Hon. Antoney Kibagendi to explore collaboration between the civil society organisation and the Government.
Honorable Kibagendi is the Member of Parliament for the Kitutu Chache constituency and the Chairperson of the Parliamentarians Against Drugs and Substance Abuse Caucus.
The meeting was held on Monday 19th August 2024.

ISSUP Kenya runs UTC 1 training for Congo Nation Sans Drogues
ISSUP Kenya organised a 5-day free training for the Congo Nation Sans Drogues advocacy group. The training was based on the Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC 1).
Congo Nation Sans Drogues is a nonprofit organisation that focuses on prevention and care programmes for people affected by drugs in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Building ATI Initiatives in Kenya
Dr. Jacqueline Anundo and Jane Ndungu from ISSUP Kenya, formed part of a joint meeting on Alternatives to Incarceration (ATI) in Kenya. The meeting was held at EKA Hotel - Nairobi, Kenya with the purpose of building ATI initiatives in the country.
The meeting agenda included a discussion on ATI priority activities, an overview of the mapping of ATI practices in Mombasa and a mechanism to coordinate the ATI pilot in Kenya.
ISSUP Kenya Code of Ethics Launch & Counsellors/Practitioners Board CEO Meet and Greet

In attendance would be the CEO C&P Board and ISSUP Kenya founding member Dr Matilda Mghoi accompanied by the former ISSUP Kenya trustee Dr Richard Gakunju (Former Chair GCCC and Clinical Director, MASAA).
The Code of Ethics will be presented by Catherine Mwati, the Ethics & Disciplinary sub-committee chair. It will be moderated by Albert Muraya.

شاركت ISSUP في كينيا و ISSUP أوغندا في حدث استمر يومين أطلق عليه اسم "سلسلة ورش عمل ربط المتوازيات". تمت رعايته من قبل معهد سفينسكا ، السويد تحت مظلة شبكة شرق إفريقيا (EAN) للوقاية من المخدرات وعلاجها. يتكون EAN من ممثلين من كينيا وتنزانيا وجمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية وأوغندا وبوروندي بهدف مناقشة أهمية توحيد كل من الوقاية والعلاج لتعزيز إدارة المخدرات في شرق إفريقيا.
National Substance Use Prevention Week in Kenya
ISSUP Kenya, in collaboration with key partners, orchestrated a series of impactful initiatives during the National Substance Use Prevention Week, observed from the 19th to the 23rd of February 2024. The focal point of these endeavours was the creation of awareness at Kiambu National Polytechnic, specifically addressing matters related to substance use disorders.
2023 ISAM Congress in Marrakesh
At the beginning of November, ISSUP and ISSUP Kenya attended the 25th Annual Congress of the International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM) in Marrakesh, Morocco.
