O Estado de São Paulo registrou entre janeiro de 2019 e julho de 2021, 12.470 acidentes e 892 óbitos de motoristas com suspeita de embriaguez ao volante.

Deste total, 378 mortes (42,3%), quase metade, ocorreram aos finais de semana no período noturno. O levantamento foi realizado pelo Infosiga, sistema do Governo do Estado gerenciado pelo programa Respeito à Vida e Detran.SP.
