Self-Regulation and Risk Behavior of Adolescents Aged 15–20

INTRODUCTION: According to Brichcín (1999), a self-regulating person is someone who can resist the temptation of immediate gratification of their needs and is capable of achieving challenging goals. Self-regulation represents the ability to make free and responsible choices and actions in relation to oneself, others, and the environment, in spite of deterministic influences. In real life, this relationship may also be reflected by the quality of mental health and engagement in risk behaviors during adolescence (Jessor & Jessor, 1977). The aim of the present paper was to investigate the...

Prevalence of Anti-Social Behavior Among Women with Substance Use Disorder in Pakistan

Saddiqua, A., & Zunnurain, M. Z. (2024). Prevalence of antisocial behavior among women with substance use disorder in Pakistan. Adiktologie, 24(2), 81–87. https://doi.org/10.35198/01-2024-002-0004

INTRODUCTION: Pakistan is ominously impacted by the menace of substance abuse. Women, who represent 42% of the total population, are primarily affected by the use of illicit substances with co-occurring behavioural disorders. Despite extensive efforts, prevalence estimates reported here are likely to underestimate substance use among women. A high level of dependency was observed among the cases who were reported; however, the unreported cases in the general population are beyond the count. This study focuses on an approximation about the prevalence of anti-social behaviour among women in...

Cost-Effectiveness of Digital Mental Health Versus Usual Care During Humanitarian Crises in Lebanon: Pragmatic Randomized Trial. JMIR Ment Health. 2024 May 29;11:e55544. doi: 10.2196/55544. PMID: 38810255; PMCID: PMC11170045.

Background:
Digital mental health interventions for depression, anxiety, and stress-related disorders are generally cost-effective, but evidence is lacking for guided digital mental health care in low and middle-income countries (LMICs) facing humanitarian crises. Step-by-Step (SbS) is effective for Lebanese citizens and war-affected Syrians in Lebanon. Assessing SbS's cost-effectiveness is crucial due to Lebanon's strained health care system.

Objective:
This study aims to assess the cost-effectiveness of SbS compared to enhanced usual care (EUC) through a randomized trial.

Methods:
A cost...

INTRODUCTION:

The interplay between pathological narcissism and substance use disorder (SUD) complicates diagnosis and treatment planning. A lack of clarity and consensus surrounding the different forms of narcissism has made it difficult to fully understand their connection. Therefore, this review provides a brief history of the concept of narcissism, it’s manifestation, treatment, interdependencies with SUD and identifies gaps in the literature.

METHODS:
