Welcome to ISSUP Chile
We are now part of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP) which is an organization to support the development of a professional prevention, treatment and recovery network. It serves as a focal point for information concerning the drug demand reduction field.
ISSUP Chile operates as the National Chapter of this Society. Because the greatest needs of the Chilean population, in the area of substance use and drug demand reduction generally, are found in the fields of social integration, prevention and treatment, the overall objective is to promote practices based on evidence, and that are high quality and ethical. The aim is to build networks within the broad field of drug demand reduction and to build a professional workforce that can operate and communicate effectively.
ISSUP Chile has a host organization: SOCIEDAD CHILENA DE NEUROLOGIA, PSIQUIATRIA Y NEUROCIRUGIA (SONEPSYN)
This is a non-profit Scientific Society, founded in 1932 and with legal status and statutes approved since 1952.The objectives of SONEPSYN are focused on the medical specialties of its target groups, which must be studied, perfected and disseminated. It is also necessary to focus on the related disciplines to be addressed and where those involved canbe supported in their professional development.
ISSUP Chile aims to:
- Represent the national communities of substance use prevention, treatment and recovery professionals and aspiring professionals.
- Develop and deliver knowledge systems for evidence-based prevention, treatment and recovery.
- Offer communications and networking opportunities that will take place online and at ISSUP Chile events.
