Following the ISSDP (International Society for the Study of Drug Policy) conference in Perth, Australia, NZ and Asian ISSUP chapters with invited Pacific experts meet to discuss key challenges and capacity needs. The meeting aimed to identify areas of common ground between chapters such as similar challenges and service capacity building needs to help strengthen ISSUP activities and network integration across the region. Pacific health experts attended to provide an overview of drug use and health needs in the Pacific.
All chapters were given time to present an overview of key challenges, priority areas, and opportunities for collaboration. ISSUP NZ and ISSUP Australia thank the attending Chapters from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Langa and Vietnam for their participation in the meeting and subsequent roundtable discussion.
The meeting successfully identified areas of common ground and shared interests between member chapters, with particular focus on the potential for the development of key research and data sharing capabilities between members.
