ISSUP Korea Established
Sahmyook University and the ICAN Headquarters have been designated as the official operating institutions of ISSUP Korea, the Korean Chapter of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP).
Accordingly, the Addiction Prevention & Recovery Center of Sahmyook University, led by Director Nami Kim, and the ICAN Headquarters, led by Professor Hyun-Seob Cho, will jointly lead a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening prevention education and the training of professional specialists through close collaboration.
These initiatives are designed to ensure that prevention and recovery strategies are firmly grounded in local contexts while remaining aligned with international standards.
Emphasizing the principle that prevention must come before punishment, the partnership focuses on equipping young people with the knowledge and resilience needed to effectively respond to substance misuse.
ISSUP Korea will also collaborate with international partners to share best practices, while working closely with local communities, schools, and law enforcement agencies to build an integrated and sustainable prevention and recovery framework.
