Membership Criteria

To become a member of ISSUP you must be:

A student, volunteer or professional in the field of substance use prevention / treatment, or other health related and well-being fields, e.g. Teacher, Social Worker, Youth Worker, Police, etc.  All ISSUP Members must accept ISSUP’s ethical principles.

There are three levels of membership:

Student membership

To qualify for Student Member, you must:
  • be undergoing training or professional development in substance use prevention / treatment or other related fields (including university courses, UPC/UTC, other relevant courses),
  • or, be working towards a qualification or credential in substance use prevention / treatment or other related fields,
  • or, be attending and undergoing training at an educational institution

Standard membership

To qualify for Standard Member, you must:
  • be undergoing training or professional development in substance use prevention / treatment or other related fields (including university courses, UPC/UTC, other relevant courses),
  • or, be working towards a qualification or credential in substance use prevention / treatment or other related fields

Advanced membership

To qualify for Advanced Member, you must:
  • hold relevant qualifications / credentials from within the substance use prevention / treatment or other related fields, or other closely related health and well-being fields
  • or, have undertaken training in UPC or UTC
  • or, have at least 5 years significant, relevant, experience of working or volunteering in the substance use prevention/treatment field, or other closely related health and well-being fields
