Virtual Interventions for Problem Gambling

Jose Luis Vazquez Martinez

Problem gambling can lead to serious consequences. People that need help to address this situation usually do not seek treatment or support. Currently, a wide range of interventions aimed to limit the negative impact of problem gambling are available, but still there are many barriers to access evidence-based treatment options. In a recent publication, van der Maas and a group of researchers explore several Internet-Based Interventions for Problem Gambling. They found that information techonologies were used to modify or extend currently available treatment interventions, such as CBT, MI, Monitoring Feedback and Support, and exposure therapy.
