Dr. Erniawati Lestari, Sp.FK is a Clinical Pharmacologist and Health Administrator currently serving as an ad-interim Director of Strengthening Community Rehabilitation Institutions, Deputy for Rehabilitation at the National Narcotics Board of Indonesia (BNN).

With over 15 years of experience in addiction medicine and rehabilitation policy, she has played key roles in clinical service, health system strengthening, and curriculum development. Dr. Erniawati has participated in and led numerous national and international trainings, including those with UNODC, WHO, and the Colombo Plan.

She has authored multiple technical guidelines and rehabilitation manuals, with published research on addiction pharmacotherapy and methamphetamine use. Her work bridges clinical pharmacology with public health innovation in drug demand reduction and recovery support systems.

Nearly 90 percent of people who use substance/drugs do not experience as substance used disorders, thus not requiring inpatient treatment. Informal services (self-care and community treatment) are the most needed and also the cheapest to set up and provide. However, many countries often establish the most expensive and intensive types of services, which focus on institutions (Community-Based Drug Services for People Who Use Drugs in Southeast Asia, 2018).
