Alcoholic withdrawal syndrome.

Hello members.

I would like to know something about alcohol withdrawal syndrome. My mother drinks a lot of alcohol and sometimes when she pause drinking, she behaves as if she mad/ mental disturbed. Not only that, I had lost my aunt last year too. She was drinking also a lot of alcohol and after pausing for two weeks she developed different behaves like she's hearing and seeing people who want to kill her, she said to me but after that she committed suicide. And after I went to a hospital and I was told that, the problem was alcoholic withdrawal syndrome? So please help me to understand this alcohol withdrawal syndrome and what can I do save my mother from drinking a lot?
