Reducing Prevalence of Addiction Begins with Youth: One Choice for Health

Jose Luis Vazquez Martinez - 23 October 2019

Nearly all adults with substance use disorders began drinking, smoking or using other substances before age 18. The adolescent brain is hardwired for risk-taking putting teens at the highest risk for problems related to substance use including addiction.

This webinar reviews the new biology of addiction and the “hijacked" addicted brain. New data from two major national surveys of teen substance use underscore the importance of youth drug prevention.

Presented by Robert L. DuPont, MD and Caroline DuPont, MD, President and Vice President, respectively, of the non-profit Institute for Behavior and Health, Inc. for the Southeast Prevention Technology Transfer Center.
