The engagement provided an important platform for dialogue on the role of faith communities in promoting prevention, treatment, recovery, and social reintegration. Discussions highlighted the value of partnerships that combine evidence-based approaches with community and faith-based support systems to address substance use and related social challenges.
Participants emphasized that substance use prevention is a shared responsibility that requires the involvement of families, communities, faith leaders, educators, health professionals, and policymakers. Faith-based organisations play a vital role in fostering hope, purpose, resilience, and positive values—protective factors that can help prevent substance use and support long-term recovery.
The visit also underscored the importance of investing in young people through mentorship, education, faith-based guidance, and evidence-informed prevention strategies. By empowering youth with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to make healthy choices, communities can contribute to building a generation that is resilient, productive, and free from the harms associated with substance use.
