The webinar will focus on drug supply reduction in Nigeria, drawing on the institutional experience of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). It will examine NDLEA strategies, achievements and lessons learned, including the operational meaning of supply reduction and its complementary relationship with demand reduction. 

The session will consider the evolving drug threat landscape, including the projected rise in drug use across Africa, West Africa's role in cocaine trafficking, the growing use of synthetic substances and prescription opioids, and emerging digital trafficking methods. Participants will gain insights that can be applied to substance usedrug prevention, treatment and drug control efforts in their own national contexts.

• The West Africa trafficking corridor: Its implications for regional and global drug control.

Following this webinar, participants will be able to:

1. Explain the core components of NDLEA's supply reduction strategy and how they interlock. 

2. Describe how Nigeria's evolving drug threat landscape is shaping the 2026–2030 National Drug Control Master Plan. 

3. Articulate the operational relationship between supply reduction and demand reduction. 

4. Identify at least one enforcement-derived data source usable in their own prevention or treatment work. 

5. Discuss the role of community-based initiatives like WADA in bridging enforcement and public health. 

Presenter:

Femi Babafemi 

Director of Media and Advocacy, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) 

Femi Babafemi is a seasoned communications strategist and law enforcement spokesperson with three decades of experience in journalism, public affairs, and institutional advocacy. 

He holds a Master's degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. 

He has further honed his expertise through specialised training, including Computer-Assisted Research & Reporting at the Panos Institute, USA, and the International Institute for Journalism, Lagos; Communication Strategies at the Royal Institute of Public Administration, London; Managing People for Strategic Advantage at Lagos Business School, Pan-African University; and Effective Public Relations Planning at The Management School, London, among numerous others. 

He currently serves as Director of Media and Advocacy at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). He previously held a similar role as Head of Media and Publicity at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a distinction that makes him the first Nigerian to have served as spokesperson for two different federal law enforcement agencies. 

During his service at EFCC, he edited the Commission's official publications, Zero Tolerance and Milestone, and supervised its radio and television programme, The Eagle. At the NDLEA, he continues this editorial tradition as Editor of the Agency's official magazine and Producer of its television programme, NDLEA Today. 

For four years, he has hosted almost 200 editions of the Agency's weekly interactive programme on X Space and other social media platforms, reaching millions of participants, especially the youth, with the right messaging. 

He has also undergone extensive training in Drug Prevention, Treatment and Counselling (DPTC), reinforcing his standing as a well-rounded voice at the intersection of media, public policy, and law enforcement communication.
