Key Points

Question  Is an intervention to improve linkage from inpatient to outpatient opioid use disorder (OUD) care for people who use both opioids and methamphetamine feasible and acceptable?

Findings  In this pilot randomized clinical trial of 40 hospitalized adults with OUD, the combination of a patient navigator with mobile health–based incentives was both feasible and acceptable.

Meaning  Further implementation and effectiveness research is warranted to evaluate this linkage intervention for a particularly vulnerable population.
