Description: When Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System decided to launch direct-to-patient video visits in 2018, they made a strategic decision to not use third party vendor providers. Instead, by integrating video visit functionality into the EMR, FMOLHS enabled their own providers to offer video visits to their patients. Not only did this decision create another access point and help maintain continuity of care, it positioned the health system to rapidly scale that access and continuity when faced with the crisis of COVID-19.
