Co-occurring Disorders

The term co-occurring disorders refers to the presence of both a mental health condition and a substance use disorder in the same individual. In some cases, a personality disorder may also be present alongside these conditions. This overlap, also called comorbidity or dual diagnosis, highlights the need for integrated treatment approaches that address both mental health and substance use issues simultaneously.
